Hatch motor Q's.

So today when getting rid of the rust on the Camaro. I decided to see why the hatch wont open via switch and with closer inspection I saw that it wasn't even connected. The only connections on the motor itself was 2 entrys which are right on top of the solenoid. The next weird thing is. the only 2 cables there (Can it be under the carpet? Doubt it but just checking) was 2 cables. 1 which had a metal retainer which seemed to be for the light and the other with 6 connections, 1 red the rest black. After closer checking with a multimeter. The red and 2nd connection on the far corner reads 12v without anything going on. 2 of the 4 of the rest connections matched with the main cable read about 0.30 when the switch of the hatch is pushed.

So whats going on here.

Down The Hatch

The hatch requires power at all times for the Pull-Down function.

That’s the purpose of one of those connectors to be powered at all times.

To learn more you might have to plug those connectors in to see what functions.

However you should know if the Pull-Down unit isn’t functioning properly it might get locked in the up position therefore you won’t be able to close the hatch.

How bout those nitwits too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime and the nitwits that need headlights for a little rain

Re: Down The Hatch

Thats the thing, if you look at the picture, none of those 2 connectors match the connection I saw on the motor. Unless the real connection is some where else. The cable is not there. The cable I tested is in the 3rd picture witch seemed to be the hatch connector with some testing with a multimeter.

The 2nd connector as I showed in the picture seemed to be the light bulb power source for trunk lighting.

So was the hatch motor replaced with another one or or something missing here?

There should be one type of hatch motor, altho some are plastic replacing some metal parts.

Plug in (or just eyeball them to prevent it from getting locked in the up position) the connectors.

Now which socket(s) don’t you have a plug for?

Count the number of pins in each unfilled socket to identify the socket.

Re: Hatch motor Q's.

My motor looks way different. Only connector I saw was the one in the pic I provided which had 2 entry points.

I am very confused

Re: Hatch motor Q's.

Oh, sorry. They changed the motor assemblies and you must have the later style. I was in a hurry and didn't look at your profile. Disregard the info then.
