Re: fuel pump prime connector
i dont think there is one i have an 87 2.8 i just put in a 1/4 of a tank of gas and turned the key on for 10 seconds and the car started but there is a fuel pressure tester nossle just in front of the distributor on the fuel rail to check if fuel is reaching the motor so turn the key a few times then depress the nozzle to let the air out then do it again until you get fuel i guess that would work

Re: fuel pump prime connector
right now the fuel pump aint coming on at all but before i drop tank i wanted to make sure it was the fuel pump
Re: fuel pump prime connector
Its a small red wire coming from the relay, generally 6" from it. If you cannot find it then unplug the relay and bridge the terminals with a short length of wire
Be sure your fuel pump/ECM fuse near the battery is not blown or this whole test will fail

Re: fuel pump prime connector
run a peice of wire to the diagnostic conector from the battery and plug it into the hole on the bottom left corner of the diagnostic terminal it bypasses the circut and power is sent strate to the fuel pump thats how i lerned mine was bad so simply run battery voltage to terminal g on the assembly line diagnostic link or aldl diagnostic plug in

Why don't you just ground the g terminal on the ALDL connector with a paperclip!! That's why the terminal is there, so that it can be done that way!!!

Re: fuel pump prime connector
Which outlet on the giagnostic connector is it A because I know if you ground A and B together it sets of the codes on the cel, so A and G turns on the fuel pump
.
sorry my spelling was so bad in the last posting i was half asleep it made me look like an idiot
.
And what's wrong with cutting the hole. I did you can drop the axle if you want and have the time and the room. I didn't have the time or the room but I also fixed the hole the right way. I welded it shut not just put a bit of aluminum and cocking it to seal and riviting it to hold it to the body
your suposed to make a car fit you not make you fit the car just like modifying your motor its like saying you put a cat back exhaust its not original or you put an intake thats not factory or you ran nos or turbo/supercharged or complaining about running eibech springs or bilstien shocks or any other mod but i will keep the stock look down to the rims now

Ground "A" to "G" on the ALDL, as for cutting the hole for the fuel pump replacement.........if that's what you want to do, go ahead, just be careful doing it!!!
I believe the best solution for the fuel pump, would be to install one in-line outside of the fuel tank!!!! Then you would never have to drop the tank, nor rip out your carpet!!

Re: fuel pump prime connector
You DON'T ground Terminal G on the ALDL... You put 12V to it! It's the constant-hot side of the relay switch! You GROUND the green wire at the relay to manually switch the relay if it's going to. If the relay switches, then the ECM is bad. I've had 2 bad ECMs, both with a code 54, and replacing the relay twice didn't help... It was when I replaced the ECM each time that the code 54 went away (the first one had a bad driver circuit and eventually failed altogether so bad that the engine wouldn't run).
Here's a diagram, and yes, I know it's slightly blurry... The relay is at the bottom.
:edit: And, when my fuel pump goes, I'm going to drop the tank AND cut the hole, using a door from a W-body. Rather than half-baking it, I plan on doing it right with the access hatch.

Putting a paperclip from the "A" "ground" "Black wire" ALDL terminal, to the "G" "Fuel Pump Relay" "Orange wire" ALDL terminal is grounding it, to complete the path!!
Sounds like potato/potatoe!!

And the relay coil, the part that magnetically switches the relay, is GROUNDED by the ECM complete the circuit. So, to properly test the fuel pump, relay, and wiring, you need to GROUND THE GREEN WIRE AT THE RELAY, with the ignition on, of course, and leave the ALDL alone.

Re: fuel pump prime connector
Umm... Hello! How is the fuel pump supposed to get any power without putting any power to it? Look at the wiring diagram I posted... Grounding the relay connector is going to do NOTHING, as that switch in the relay provides POWER to the fuel pump when the relay is switched by the ECM, not a ground!

I see my error, I was trying to verify a "crapped" out fuel pump, so I placed a piece of wire from terminal "A" to terminal "G" on a recently purchased 1987 Camaro Z-28, and turned the key to "on", thinking that I would get the 12VDC that was required by completing the path, however, I didn't!! I naturally assumed that I didn't, because the fuel pump was in need of replacement, which it was, and has subsequently been replaced!!
I stand corrected, see, you learn something new every day!!
It took me a few minutes of looking at the wiring diagram that you had as an attachment, and after looking at the one in my service manual, and reviewing the procedures, yup, I was wrong!!
Sure did sound good though!!!

Thanks for "fixing" me!!
