Gauges Not Working...

Ok so only my Volts & Fuel gauge work. My speedo doesn't move at all. My tach looks like it wants to work. When I'm starting my car it jumps from 0-2000+ RPM then once the car is started it drops to 0. I tried to do a search to find out how I could fix it but to no avail. I have an MSD RTR Pro-Billet distributor & Blaster II Coil. I read in a thread somewhere on hear that if you connect the tach wire to the negative side of the coil (12v from ignition on positive) that the tach would read. I did that & nothing. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

It almost sounds as if the cluster were removed at some point and it's never been reseated properly. I'm not a TA guy, but I believe your speedo should be cable-driven. If so, the cable wasn't reconnected at the speedo head or transmission or it's broken somewhere between.

Idk if the dash has been pulled out by the previous owner or not. As far as the speedo goes it's not screwed into the side of the tranny, it's kinda just pushed in place. I'll have to get under the car & check it again.

Should have a retainer and a single bolt holding it in place. If the drive and driven gear in the trans aren't making contact, the speedo head won't read.

I am also having the tach problem on my 88 iroc except mine goes to 7000 after the car is started. Maybe it would help if someone could post a pic of the stock set-up by the coil.
