89 GTA Power Window problem

I'm new to the 3rd Gen car. I have recently purchased a 1989 GTA. The windows will not go down, and the heater blower won't come on either. Anyone know if these two circuits are related? Maybe they use the same relay?

Also my headlights won't go up, the lights come on, the motor's spin, but there is no movement.

Re: 89 GTA Power Window problem

Could be a blown fuse with the window motor(s) and heater. Not sure about that. But I know what the problem is with the headlight motors. GM put 3 gel bushings in each those motors. They start to crumble and fall apart and then gear has nothing to sit on and they spin. So you will need to replace them with two sets of these http://www.top-downsolutions.com/pro...products_id=35

If the AC compressor also won’t come on the problem is the feed going to the fuse block.

The windows have a common circuit amp breaker instead of fuses.

Check the breaker for 12 volts in and out.

If the breaker is OK use a test light or voltmeter to see if you have power at the
pink wire at the switches.

I'm in the UK and my power windows failed. I replaced the common circuit amp breaker with a 30 amp fuse and it works fine. I cannot find a supplier of the common circuit amp breaker in the uk - will it be ok to keep using the 30 amp fuse?

Technically a 30 amp fuse is the same as using a 30 amp circuit breaker...in either instance, they'll blow if they exceed 30 amps, so you should be fine. And I'm pretty sure that a circuit breaker is supposed to reset automatically once you kill power to it. so if you tried that and your's still didn't work I'm guessing it was the problem.
