Radio turns on and off on its own?
Hey guys,
Last time I had the car out the radio would turn on and off at random. It always worked fine before, but now it won't stay on. I didn't notice any correlation between when it would turn on/ off and g' forces, so I don't think flex has anything to do with it. I think it sounds like a short circuit or some sort of bad wiring to the switch. I heard that having it fixed would cost more than a decent newer CD player, but if the fix is easy I might as well save the stock tape deck. Has anyone had a similar issue or experience with this sort of thing? Could I fix it in a couple hours in my garage, or would I be better off time and money wise getting an Alpine or early 4th gen CD deck?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: can a mod move this to Car Audio?

Hello Radio
You want to find out if the problem is in the radio or the power wiring going to it.
You can wire a small light bulb to where the power goes in.
Now, the next time it goes off you’ll know why.
If the problem is internal, the majority of the time it’s a cold solder joint.
