so went move the car and when i went to start it it puffed out smoke from under the dash, i was not impressed.. found that it was coming for one of the ground wires for my oil pressure gauge the two gauge cluster shares the same ground ie one 14/16g wire from each into a 12g wire, i have had this cluster in the car for years and never a problem???

any way thought i would share my headache

 

no more lights on the gauges. in the market for new ones.

 

I had the same thing happen in my 84 camaro. Happened when I turned the heater on....smoke just rolling from the dash....I almost poured my coffee down the dash!! I shut the fan off and the smoke stopped...scared the hell out of me. My heater core had blown earlier and I had bypassed the heater core by connecting the heater core lines.... a few weeks later on a cool rainy day I turned the blower on just to help with the fogging windows and pooof came the smoke from the dash.

 

freaks u out when smoke shows up!!when the gauge went i grabbed the first thing i could witch was armor all LOL
after i double checked every fockin wire under my dash. all is well
