If youre getting no spark connect a test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) between the coil primary and ground.

Crank the engine.

Does the light blink?

Apply 12v directly to the Engage (purple wire) at your starter, that will rule out your wiring from ignition cylinder. If the starter engages when 12V (+) is applied to the purple connection(cable) at the starter, the starter is fine and you have a powerloss from the ignition switch and starter.

Re: car wont fire

If you apply 12V (+) to the purple wire (with your key in position on so you can turn of the car if it starts) apply that cable from battery (+) to the little terminal (engage with purple wire attached on starter) WATCH YOUR FINGERS!!!(!) if the car starts directly when you touch that cable (purple wire connection on starter) then the starter is fine.

And you have a powerloss between your ignition lock cylinder/ignition switch to the starter.

So then you need to first check your ignition switch (to confirm its broken or not) I have install/remove pictures from that when I did it if you want to see how it looks like under the dash (and how to remove etc) tons of pictures and projects on my page http://irocz.info.se/ go to Projects (click the USA flag at the right top first (on main page) and google translates the page to english then you can go thru my 40+ projects with pictures and info. (all photos are taken by me in project section)

Let us know how it turns out for you

Re: car wont fire

alright well i didnt want to get as techinical as you did it my firend even though i probably i should of i pulled the starter off applied 12volts to power post grounded it out and used a screwdriver to cross the two post and it turned over it made the most horrific sound ive heasrd heard slapping grinding and what not and i let off i went to hit it again and nothing did it about 30 more times grounding it out in different places. Making sure it was still recieving 12 volts and nothing went on a trip to find a new had no idea what year my block was found it its an 82 lol had autozone bench test it and it turned once making every god aweful noise possible and then wouldnt turn after that so i bought a new came home went to bed i will install it in about 3 hours once im done with with some paperwork stuff and let you know how it goes. Now i have a question about fusible links are there any throughout the ignition system? and i will am going to pull the switch and have it replaced so i will check out your pictures and stuff thank you

The fusible link associated with the ignition also passes power to other items therefore unless there is a list of inoperable items the link is OK.
