I have an 84 z28 that has the L69 H.O. engine. I am trying to figure out what distributor I have? Any help is much appreciated

 

You have a computer controlled HEI distributor. Not replaceable by any off the shelf vacuum-advanced HEI distributor, since the computer controls the timing advance/retard (unless you get rid of the ECM & swap to a non-computer controlled carb - then you'll HAVE to use a vacuum-advanced HEI distributor.

 

thanks for the reply i'm confused though. so what your telling me is that no one makes or sells any aftermarket dizzy that is a direct replacement that hooks up the same way as the old one?

 

If it's a computer controlled carb motor, then you'll have to get a computer controlled dist. I'm just saying that a standard aftermarkey HEI with the vacuum advance wouldn't replace a computer controlled dist. I'm sure there would be replacements.
