The outer lamps are the headlights, the inners are the brights.

Is the BRIGHTS
indicator on?

Operate the stalk.

Do you get a good feeling
CLICKwith every pull?

If not it needs to be adjusted.

The inside lamps are the brights.

The outside lamps contain normally aimed, and high aimed filaments used in conjunction with the brights.

Re: Light Weight

Make sure the headlights are in the right buckets also - I've seen some folks switch them for whatever reason. The high beam lights should have only 2 prongs, and the go on the inside buckets. The low beams have 3 prongs, and go in the outer buckets.

Re: Light Weight

Under the lower dash panel (the underneath panel), above the brake pedal, there is the hi/lo switch. When you pull the lever, it actuates a rod in the steering column, that comes down the column and pushes into the end of this switch. Lay the seat back all the way, put feet on headrest and face under brake pedal - look up, move the hi/lo lever, and you'll see the rod moving into/out of the switch. I think it's a 7mm bolthead, loosen it just a tad, and slide the switch up the steering colum just a tad, tighten gently as they strip easily, and retest. When you get it where it's clicking when the rod moves into the switch, then go out and see if the hi beams are coming off and on. If you never get it to click good, then maybe a bad switch. If it clicks good but no headlight hi/lo action outside, then maybe the switch is bad. If you have a tilt wheel, position the wheel where you usually have it to drive BEFORE you adjust the hi/lo switch - often with the tilt wheels we can get them to work when wheel is 'here', but not when wheel is 'there'.
