digital Odometer removal
There must be a way to remove the digital odometer besides removing the entire cluster, no? My odometer keeps blowing fuses. One the same fuse as the horn, door locks and power mirrors and interior lights.
Tried to take this out last night and got as far as the Driver information center out and the switch panel (trip, MPH/KM etc) even removed the LCD panel but the seems attached from the back some how.
When this fuse is blown the digital speedo is very erratic, impossible to get an accurate reading...
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: digital Odometer removal
doesn't anyone know how to remove the digital odometer? I have searched for hours, seen write ups of analog to digital but nothing specific to removing this part....

Re: digital Odometer removal
I haven't seen the back side of the digital dash electronics. So I couldn't say. Not many people have cars equipped with the digital dash, so an answer may take a bit on this one. Honestly removal of the odometer isn't a good idea. If there is a problem with your cluster that causes fuses to blow then that issue needs to be properly tracked down and repaired.

That's just it, I'm not sure if its the dash or the int. lights, power mirrors & locks or horn - they are all on the same circuit. Thought if I could remove the odometer I would know if it needs to be sent in for repair. I have already tried and removed the sash panel and driver information center, even removed the button panel/stack (MPH/KM, trip, reset button etc.) and even removed the LCD screen (it just plugs into the circuit board (pull Gently!)
But the main board seems to be attached from the rear somehow. I don't want to remove anything unnecessarily, the dash has always work perfectly and has remained untouched until now.
I know there is a way to "test" the other circuits (horn etc.) for a short? But I don't know how, I haven't ever had to chase down a short before.
Resistance readings maybe?
