Another Temp Gauge Help..

Hey guys, I've read, and read, but I'm still a little bit unclear. I have a 1987 Camaro Sport Coupe 2.8l with idiot lights. I want to add a water temp gauge and have a couple questions.
1: is this the sending unit i need? - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SMP-TS76/
2: once i buy that, all i need is any aftermarket electric gauge?
3: how do i hook up my gauge? ..does it have one wire that goes straight to the sending unit, and one that goes to ground and that's it?

also, if i were to want to keep the idiot light AND a proper gauge, could the new sending unit be fit on a cooling hose or something?

if im missing anything please let me know.

Yes that’s the correct sender.

.

Not necessarily. You must either get an aftermarket gage which states it’s compatible with stock senders, or use a sender from the aftermarket company.

First you should choose the gage you want, then read the instructions to find out if it requires a sender from the aftermarket company or if it’s compatible with stock senders.

Most of them are like that, plus an illumination/power wire.

You don’t want it in the hose. You want a circuit to light a warning lamp, and have that circuit controlled by the one new sender.

this is the one I want. It comes with a sending unit with a "1/8th npt male thread".

Will that work?

You’ll need an adaptor.

1/8th female to 3/8th male NPT.
