battery dying
i just got the z out for the summer and ive got a big headache of a problem which i cant quite figure out, well kinda but not really
. when ever i turn the car off the battery dies in about 10 minutes (new optima red top with about ten kilometers total on it) anyway i stuck a clamp on ammeter on the big wire that goes to the starter and its drawing .53A which i think is kind of high considering the car isn't running. i compared to my pickup which is drawing almost nothing on the same wire. so what am i looking at here? starter gone? amperage seems low for something to be shorted. anyone check theirs with an ammeter while the car is sitting?

Sometimes the under-hood light does not go out so check that easy one first.
Then connect an ammeter in series with the battery.
If there is more than 50 milliamps there is excessive draw.
With everything turned off and doors closed observe the current flow.
Pull the fuses one at a time till you see the current drop.
That’s the circuit with the problem.

As long as it has a low enuff range that will work fine.
