Fuel pump question

I'm reassembling my fuel pump carrier assembly and had a couple quick questions. First, the pump is not perfectly aligned with the fuel line, it is a little bit crooked. Second, does that little rubber bumper go between the fuel pump and the fuel line? It fell off before I could figure it out. I attached a couple pictures, not sure how good they will show it though.

Also, I know you are supposed to replace the wiring harness, but mine looks perfectly fine. And I know I'll just mess it up when I start soldering the ground connections. Any thoughts?

Re: Fuel pump question

I'm also wondering about the white plastic disc which goes between the strainer and the pump. It seems to block a line, which I assume is the fuel return line. However, there is also a small hole a little bit up the fuel return line. The metal bracket snapped off, and it may have been covering this hole. Any issues? Need to put this together!
