starter question

Two questions, first is it necessary to put back on the little star washers to the power wires and the one purple wire on the starter?? Next is I have hedman full tube headers and the come pretty close to the starter, should i wrap the starter and wires in a heat wrap or will it be fine with the kind of heat the headers give off. Thanks

Re: starter question

The stars are like locks--
they don't vibrate loose very often. I used them, alot of ppl use tiny lock washers. Either way, you want something that won't vibrate off.

Starter protection--
alot of ppl will swear by a heat shield or wrap, & some will say it also holds the heat in once it gets hot.
IDK, I have shorties & a mini, so far no probs.

Re: starter question

The star washers do more then just act as lock washers. They bite into the adjacent hardware making a more secure electrical connection. There's no reason not to use them.

Most headers are somewhat generic. Use your best judgement, but if the exhaust is closer then about 1/2" you'll probably want to do something about it. If it's too close the insulation will burn, and the fire can spread quickly.
