Engine: 305

Transmission: 700r4

help me please -with vats

hi im trying to put a 88 camaro steering column(no vats) in my 90 rs(has vats) but im not sure if my vats will disable my car.right now my car has a resistor so i can start it,so if i leave the resistor on and connect the ignition wires will it start up?or is there more than that?please help me

...i hate vats...

As long as the VATS is getting the resistor, shouldn't be a problem.

so ill just be able to wire it all up and use a nonchiped key?
as long as the resistor is in.

Yep. If it worked before, it will work now. The whole point of using the resistor is to bypass the chip in the key, which is the only part of the column that is part of that system.
