Alternator won't charge

Engine: 305
Transmission: 700R4
Alternator won't charge

The exciter wire isn't getting the 12V that it needs to excite the alternator so it doesn't charge.
How do I fix this? I've read up on it by doing a search on the forums but nothing specifically said whats wrong, where, or how to repair it.
