tach issue w/6A

I have an MSD distributor, MSD coil, and 6A box. The engine is a 350 with TPI. The car uses the stock tach. The tach reads fine below 3,000 RPMs. Once it goes above 3,000 RPMs the needle drops to zero and then starts to jump all over the place. I have read that this is fairly common and that a tach adapter would solve the issue. The question I have is which tach adapter to get? To me, the 8910 seems like the correct one. Other people have told me that I have to use the 8920, but the 8920 says its for a magnetic pickup. Which one is correct?
