Car won't crank - rear hatch button not working also.
When I turn the key, I hear a click under the dash, not the hood, but in the dash. At first I thought it was the VATS, but I think it is the some sort of safety switch because I can't use the electric switch to unlatch the rear hatch.
The car is acting like it is gear. Any idea about how to test this switch or where it is at before I start taking things apart.
I am been reading online and I am going to dig out my Haynes, but if someone knows where the sensor is that stops the hatch from opening when the car is in gear, please post.
Thanks

PN switch, pull the parking brake and see if the hatch works now

I have pulled on it and once in a while the hatch will open. I did have power to the starter for a millia second. So this switch is bad. How do I overide it or replace it?

Under the shifter plate - the neutral safety switch - maybe it just needs adjusted, loosen two screws and it slides forward/back. Or replace, about $30.

Do not bypass the PN switch, it will allow you to open the hatch while driving. Bad idea
