I've got a serious problem

Alright, so I'm supposed to go on a road trip tomorrow to visit a friend in the hospital.... but, when I went to go start my car today to go get some gas, the f****** thing wouldn't start. I've got no ses light when the key is in the on position, and the fuel pump isn't priming. I've already tried jumping wires with the fuel pump relay off, and that won't do anything. The engine turns over fine, it just never starts up. Does anyone have any suggestions on what they think it might be? I've already done a few searches and couldn't find anything conclusive. Any help is appreciated.

Re: I've got a serious problem

I am not sure its the problem but worth a try, jump your vats out if you have one. Mine did the same thing I bypassed the vats in mine and no more trouble like that.

Re: I've got a serious problem

Thanks for the advice, but how exactly would I go about doing that?

Re: I've got a serious problem

You said you tried jumping the fuel pump wires, and it "wont do anything". Do you mean that it won't turn the fuel pump on?

If jumping the fuel pump doesn't start it, the fuel pump is probably bad.

You can bypass the VATS by putting a resistor of the same value as the key, jumpered across the VATS wires that plug into the ignition switch. There are several threads on this forum about it.

What I meant to say was I tried jumping the wire that's supposed to prime the fuel pump to a live wire, but I got no response from the fuel pump, when I had done it before I could always hear the fuel pump running (I've had priming issues) but now the pump won't run at all, and the SES light isn't coming on like it's supposed to when the key's in the "on" position before starting the car.

Re: I've got a serious problem

Yes, that's what I meant. If you're jumpering the prime wire, the pump should run. If it's not running, you've got a bad fuel pump, or bad wiring to the pump, or possibly a bad relay.
