Big 3 did I mess up?
I've been having charging issues so I upgraded my charge wire to 2 gauge and my battery to body ground to 2 awg also. I still have the same problems where it drops to the redline at idle and doesnt quite make it to the middle of the gauge when cruising. Will adding the engine to body ground make that big of a difference or should I look to the alternator or battery. I grounded to the body right along the frame rail where the bracket for the starter cable bolts in if that matters.

Alternative Information
The dash voltmeter might not be accurate.
Have you taken measurements with a test instrument quality meter?

I agree with NINA's advice. If the dash voltmeter is correct however, it sounds like you've got a bad diode in the rectifier assembly of the alternator.
