Referrals Please!!! DYI Electrical Learning Aids

I am tired of just changing parts to fix issues with my car. I want to learn to diagnose issues with the wiring harness and sensors on my car. Is there any kind of home study course that hits on the basics. I learn pretty quick but I would rather not experiment on my car. Any suggestions.

What books are useful.

What about test circuit boards, heres one I found maybe something cheaper?

I waste a lot of time chasing wires instead of learning the schematics, learning terminology. Can anyone provide any suggestions on this please.

Buy a service manual, learn to read an electrical diagram, learn to read and use a multimeter, understand the very basic principles of a circuit, and use common sense

Try something small like wiring in power seats or building a manual fan relay with a toggle switch

I try to tell people that wiring is just connect the dots. Repeatedly. Once you grasp the basics, the rest is the same, just arranged differently

That's wiring diags for just about every 3rd gen.

That's how to pull the codes from your ECM if you dont already know.

There's very little that you can't accomplish with a simple $3 digital volt/ohm meter from Harbor Freight.
