Engine Scanner

Can anybody recommend me a descent engine scanner to run and clear codes on my 89, 5.7ltr. tpi transam gta. Is there a ALDL cable out there with USB to connect to your laptop, with cd, (software) ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Engine Scanner

If all you want to do is see stored codes then jumpering A and B on the ALDL connector will make the Chk engine light flash the codes.
For a Vette but same for F-Body

On a '89 disconnecting the battery clears the stored codes.

Cable to connect to ECM
http://www.aldlcable.com/
and use free software like TunerPro on a laptop.

Lets you monitor the engine sensors in real time as it is running

Re: Engine Scanner

Best scan tool for the money is a paperclip and this: https://www.thirdgen.org/service-eng...ht-error-codes

To clear codes, disconnect the battery for a few minutes.
