Wiring Fuel Pump Relay issues....
Ive searched for 3 1/2 hrs....so here we gooooo.
I currently swapped my TPI for a Carbed 358 SBC. Im trying to rewire my Fuel Pump Relay but the wires have been cut & hacked. I have the following hooked up: Grey (C100 or w/e its called), Black (ground), Orange (power).
I do not have the Green/White (acc) or the Red (prime) hooked up. I tried jumpin the Green/White wire off the battery to see if it would kick the fuel pump on...but no luck there.
I know there is supposed to be an Oil Pressure Safety Switch but i cannot use it on my new block. Would that be the issue or do i need to hookup the Red wire? or both.
Any ???'s or comments are greatly appreciated.

Heres how I did it in my 88 camaro, not sure if its the same for your 'bird or not:
Tan/wht: To c100 (fuel pump feed)
Blk/wht: Gnd
Grn/wht: FP Relay control
Red: FP prime connector
Orn: Hot

Re: Wiring Fuel Pump Relay issues....
The Oil Pressure Sending Unit does have control over the FP. It can go bad, causing the fuel pump not to run, and also causing it to run constantly regardless of the key until the battery dies. I didn't like having the OPSU as a part of the FP function, so when I swapped to carb I took it out of the system. Here's what I did:
I cut the orange and red wires off the OPSU (the FP wires) and left the last wire there for the guage.
I cut out the wiring for the FP relay, and I rewired the relay. So my FP relay has these 4 wires on it:
Black - ground
Orange - comes from the fuse by the battery, so it's the 12v constant
Red - goes from the OPSU to the fuel pump
Extra wire - comes from any hot-in-run source
What happens with my setup: Relay has 12v constant from the fuse by the battery, and a constant ground. Turn key on, the Extra wire gets 12v from a hot-in-run source, thus activates the relay. Relay activated takes the 12v constant and connects it to the wire that runs to the FP. Thus my FP runs as long as the key is ON.
Make sense?
Takes the OPSU out of the picture so that it can no longer go bad and mess up FP operation or kill battery, no major rewiring just simple reconnects at the fuel pump relay.

U say u got your red wire running from the OPSU to the fuel pump? So i just cut the OPSU out...straight wire it to the fuse....run the red wire. Ima try it, i'll let you know in a couple hrs. if it works!

Re: Wiring Fuel Pump Relay issues....
didnt have a chance to really work on it. where exactly does the red wire go...i don't have the OPSU hooked up anymore so my gauge doesnt even work. is there any way to know where the red wire goes exactly bc i cut off wherever the red one came from....i know it comes from the fuel pump but where does it run exactly? to the fuse box or under the carpet? or under the car or what?
Re: Wiring Fuel Pump Relay issues....
Just cut the connection to the oil switch if it bothers you. Unplugging it has the same effect. It doesnt actually cut fuel or anything like the old school safety switches. It's designed to be a backup in case the fuel relay failed mid run so you wouldnt be left stranded somewhere
The simple way to fuel control is to leave most of the wiring alone. Stock the TPI will have the gry pump wire in place at the C100. Orn power wire is also there fed by the 20A fuse near the battery. Blk/wht is part of the main engine grounds, also there
The dk grn/wht wire was the 12v call wire for the relay from the ECM. Simply move it to a fused 12v switched source. One of the old INJ fuses is a good spot in the old block. This will cause the relay to engage whenever you have your IGN on
Finally, shame on you for cutting up a SD TPI harness for a dinosaur tech. Should have used a V6 harness

Sounds good but i still don't know what do w/my red wire? I don't know where its supposed to go? bc i can't get my Pump to turn on and i have all the wires run except the red one....the relay kicks on but no pump im confused....
&& srry for cutting up the harness....i'll mail u the rest of it if it'll make you feel better!

Re: Wiring Fuel Pump Relay issues....
Well i finally dropped the tank due to the pump never turning on....the relay would hit but nothing after that....there was gas in the tank but the pump would not turn on. The pump has 250,000 miles on it so i decided it was time to replace it anyways. Come to find out the plug on the pump was melted!!!!!! Bought a new intank pump, and it came with a new plug! AWESOME. So i've got everything wired up & tomm. I'm goin to see if i can get the new pump to run. Fingers crossed...& gnna say a lil prayer.
