Berlinetta Digital Dash Cluster Replacement

I have a 1986 Camaro Berlinetta, 8 cyl carb and recently the Digital dash cluster "went half dead"....So I got a hold of John (our resident Berlinetta expert), bought a new digital dash from him and installed it myself!

Click on the link:

Mind you, John was a fantastic resource here...He gave me all the instructions, right down to changing the chip for the proper odometer reading!

I have enclosed some photos and a video of the changeover - invaluable if you have a burnt out digital dash...Thanks again John!

Looks like an 84...6 cyl or 8 cyl? Original rims, looks fairly decent from pic...guess you won't know how many miles are on it, until you change o=ver the digital dash tho!

Re: Berlinetta Digital Dash Cluster Replacement

Look at the color of the redline for the tach. I think V8 clusters had a 4400 RPM "yellow" line.

Re: Berlinetta Digital Dash Cluster Replacement

I just looked at a pic I have of one of them, the yellow dots begin at about 4500 and the reds at 5500 so at least one of them is a V8 one, the other one most likely is too. I think they were identical. The one I'm not sure about is nicer in that it still has all the tabs on the top, totally unmolested very clean

Re: Berlinetta Digital Dash Cluster Replacement

I have an 82 Berlinetta with the analog dash. I'd like to replace it with a digital dash like the later years had. I don't care is it's factory or a high quality aftermarket one. Good idea or no? Thanks!

Re: Berlinetta Digital Dash Cluster Replacement

The entire dash, middle console and wiring harness are different. It might be easier to get an 84-86 Berlinetta instead.

Here are some links to pics that might help to see the difference. Check out along the passenger side as well as the obvious where the AC and wiper controls are on pods next to the steering wheel.

Re: Berlinetta Digital Dash Cluster Replacement

Hi, my name is Andrew Orozco from Oxnard, CA. I own a 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta V8 350 and it came stock with a Digital Dash. I am currently restoring this car and I want the original dash setup on it. The problem with the dash is that all needles work except the digital sections. We tested the the electrical and all power does enter the the actual dash, however the needles and lights don't work. Do any of you know where I can get a cheep replacement or some where close where I can get it repaired? Thanks.
