Starting issues 86TA
Hi everyone
I'm sure this is stupid and I should gotten it right away, but I am gona ask anyways because I'm having trouble. I have an 86 trans am tpi 5.0, and I cannot get it to start without a jump. But it starts every time with a jump, just sounds like barely though, its sort of a fast clicking start and then it runs like a champ. No other issues. Is there some wiring issues I should look for other than the obvious. I would love to just say replace the starter, but if it starts every time with a jump the starter must still be working right? Could this be an ignition problem? Below is the current condition of the starting/charing system:
It has a brand new battery (fully charged) I already took one back because I thought it was bad and an older alternator (but still charges at 14.54V tested with my volt/ohm meter). Any ideas you have are greatly appreciated, I would love to get this thing back on the road after this winter!

Dropped Voltage, But It Didn’t Break
OK because you said voltage is 14.5 the problem seems to be that voltage not getting to the starter.
Do a voltage drop test.
Connect one lead of the meter to the + post of the battery and the other lead to the starter S terminal.
Attempt to crank, then note the reading on the meter.
Then repeat the test after you move the test lead from the S terminal to the B terminal.
If you see more than a half volt indication on the meter (which means voltage drop) clean or replace those defective connections.
