Horn??
When I bought my car the horn didn't work i hooked up the connections i still got nothing and i dont know what it is. I don know if it could be the horn buttons or what. Ive already tried the horns with a acr battery they both work great actually.
its a 91 camaro with the airbag. does anyone know what it could be or should i just ake it to my friend this spring very old but a great mechanic. Should i let him give it a go becuase he has been in the car field for at least 45 years. He would probably only charge me 20 bucks to have it done he had a cat back exhuast put on for 60 bucks. The guy does amazing work.

Re: Horn??
Before you take it to someone, check the basics. Check the fuse and the horn relay. Both are under the dash on the driver's side. You'll have to remove the lower panel to see them. The fuse box is on the right side, right by the door. The relay is over in the panel on the side of the center console up under the dash. Another common problem area is the wire in the steering column behind the airbag. You'll have to remove the airbag to get to it. Its just 4 Torx screws in the backside of the steering wheel(the side facing the dash). Make sure you disconnect the battery before removing the airbag. You don't want that going off in your face.

Re: Horn??
I had to fix the same problem. As described above, disconnect the battery and take the airbag off. Sometimes the little plastic horn switches fall apart and need replacing or the cover on the bag has curled up from sun exposure and made it difficult to press the horn buttons effectively. Check it out and the problem will likely be obvious. Report back if this investigation doesn't reveal anything
BTW, does your dome light work?

Re: Horn??
Did you say you took off the wheel and checked the horn switches? Did the horn work then? Can't quite tell what you are saying.

Re: Horn??
If the problem is that when you push down on the corners of the air bag pad where the horn buttons are, that it doesn't go in far enough to push the buttons, you may have to trim some of the yellowish plastic stuff away until it works. With the wheel off and pushing the center spring loaded horn wire in, does your horn work then?

Re: Horn??
Henryd3, I noticed you asked if the dome light was working. Is this a tell to anything? My horn is not working and the dome light is out as well. I was doing some research about the problem before tearing into it.

Re: Horn??
When my horn wasn't working, my dome light, power mirrors and locks, third brake light, lighter and radio power weren't working either. I found that the accessory fuse was blown and would pop when I put a new one in. It powers all this stuff. I also heard that this often happens when the lighter shorts out . Not the element, but the receptacle itself. You have to remove the bezel around the gauges and unplug the connector on the back of the lighter. If you replace the fuse(#11 fuse) and your dome light lights up, you just fixed it! Then either replace the lighter or leave it disconnected, but if you do that you must insulate the connector because the orange wire is always hot and will short out if it touches any grounded part. Good luck. Oh, and now your horn should work as well

Thanks, I'll give that a try tonight. I have all the same symptoms, except my radio works. Its aftermarket so someone may have wired it differently, not sure.

Yeah, there are a lot of different places they could have tapped into to power a stereo system. Hope it works for you, sure was a relief for me.

Re: Horn??
Sorry for hijacking this thread xx. I just replaced the accessory fuse and sure enough, dome light comes on and power back in the doors. Unfortunately, the horn is still not working. My airbag is pretty weathered and it doesn't even seem like the left side moves at all. I don't want to open it up until I have the new switch, so I'm going to order on in the morning. Got to get a cigarette lighter too, as soon as I touched it, the fuse blew.

Re: Horn??
Does the spring loaded wire go in and turn to stay in tension when inserted into the horn plastic ring/contact? Is that piece intact? If the contacts aren't being made properly between the metal tip of that wire and the ground or whatever it's supposed to touch in there it won't work. I'm pretty sure that's where it grounds to through the column. Try pulling that wire out and grounding it somewhere else and see if that helps?

I had a horn issue and checked the ACC fuse and sure enough, that was all that was wrong on mine.

Connect a voltmeter to pin J of the horn relay, (you can remove the relay and probe the socket which might make it easier) what is the reading on the voltmeter?
Now press the horn button on the steering wheel, now what is the reading on the voltmeter?
