ecu removal

i need to remove my ecu and harness in my 87 irocz. ive gave it a little effort and couldnt get the connector on the inside of the passenger fender is a real pain. ive tried looking through treads and using the search. havent found anything.

oh yea i forgot to mention that i dont want to remove my fender. i will if i have to. but rather not. so anyone have a url they can send me or something? i tried again last night with no prevail.

Try removing the ECM with the harness still plugged in, then remove the harness from it - gives you more room to see/work, as there are tabs on it that need pried up to remove the harness. The only thing that holds the ECM in place is one tab that you push, then it's velcroed into it's slot - just push the tab and pull down on the unit.

I think he's trying to remove the entire harness. I wish I could tell you for sure, but I think you're probably going to have to pull the fender. I've looked at mine since I want to do some spare wire removal this winter. I'm not to excited about pulling fenders either, but mine were developing some rust and I have some clean ones that are going on instead.

If you remove just inner fender then you can reach up to harness.

i succesfully removed the ecu and harness. it was real easy. pulled a panel off the interior and the inner fender. never had to remove the fenders like i heard from so many places. thanks for the help.
