LARGE Cap HEI/PCM wiring question
Hope this isn;t considered a cross post, just didn't get much response in the Eng Swap forum. I have swapped an '95 LO5 TBI system onto an older 350, I had it running, but I think the modual in the dist went bad after lots of miles in it's previous life. I have a new large cap HEI, made by GM, sold by Jeg's among others, that I was running with my carb setup. My question is- can I use my Large cap HEI with the 16197427 PCM that came with my TBI setup? The computer would be fuel control only at this point, right? I have a bookmark where they did this with a Megasquirt unit, so I " think " it might work with a GM PCM. Any insight on how to wire? Thx, Al

Re: LARGE Cap HEI/PCM wiring question
unfortunately, your engine computer's going to be looking to control the spark and will cause fueling issues. The MS setup can use it because it only controls fuel by nature, no spark. If you're sticking with TBI, you have to use the small cap, computer-controlled distributor.
