dash lights wont work!! need help

dash lights wont work!! need help
ok one day i got in my car pulled the **** to turn the head lights on and some smoke came out of my dash on the top left side. i shut the lights off then the next day i started checking the fuses ex...none blown so i pylled the know agin and nothing .. and i thought it was the printed circuit so i replaced the gauge nothing then i checked the headlight switch and i say this "see pic" replaced it still nothing ..... so if any one can help me out please and thanks

The INST fuse, 5A, would be the fuse that would normally pop. It's tough to see the element so, you may want to check it again.
The picture is to crappy even tell what it is a picture of.

that is the back of the head light switch sorry i took the pic with my phone, ok it was INST fuse thanks for the help
