I am having multiple problems from multiple areas. I just bought, and have been working on this car that someone else gave up on. I am suspecting it is a ECM problem, but their are so many threads about drivetrain swapping related to the ECM that i am having trouble finding threads to give me the common symptoms of ECM problems.

A bad ecm is hard to detect and especially pin point. You may run into issues such as stalling, bad idle, and hard starting. The most best way is to run the trouble shooting by grounding pins a and b in the ALDL. The common error would be a code 51 but the code 51 can also be a bad MemCal. Here is a page of the issue. Please post up the trouble codes that you are experiencing.

im going to work on it some more today. i have no speedo, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge, bouncing idle till warm, and it feels like their is no timing advance. Im sure it is either a wiring issue or the ECM. I'm going to spend the day tracking down wires then go from their.

 

First get the trouble codes bud. Ill hook you up with the diagnostic sheets.

 

alright i got my oil pressure and temp to work. pulled the codes 34 and 44. I checked my MAF or intake air sensor (whatever) and it has no resistance. So thats probly causing the lean code.
so i guess its not the puter. im going to start a new thread with my crazy speedo problem.

 

wait a minute. What year is ur camaro? Does it have a speedometer cable that goes from the tranny to the instrument cluster?
