Wiper fuse blows up
The windshield wiper fuse on my 87 Camaro keeps blowing. with the wipers on an interval or at the slowest constant setting it seems to do alright but at medium speed or high speed it blows regularly.
What size fuse belongs in there? There's been 30 amp fuses in it since I bought the car.
Does this mean that the windshield wiper motor is bad and needs to be replaced? Could it be the wiring?
Sometimes the wipers will "skip" across the windshield like they are sticking because its dry even though its pouring rain.
Any help would be appreciated, I have to drive 800 miles and it's supposed to rain for the next few days.

Rain Pain
It supposed to be a 25 amp fuse therefore the 30 amp fuses are not the problem.
It might be an intermittent short the non-delay circuit.
It might be a faulty motor.
To find out remove the wiper fuse and put an ammeter across the fuse terminals.
A low cost NON-digital meter works best for this due to the faster response time.
Put the ammeter on the 20 amp range or the closest available.
Now with a wet windshield as the wipers sweep back and forth, what is the lowest reading on the ammeter?

How bout those too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime
and the ones that need headlights for a little rain

Re: Wiper fuse blows up
unplug the motor and turn on the switch and see if it blows, if not the motor is bad. if it still blows its something shorted to ground in the wiring
