Engine harness question
Ok here it goes as im not too good at wiring. Ok heres some history of the car. I have a 89 iroc with the factory dash harness and no engine harness as the car I bought had an LS1 in it before. I bought it for the shell as its super clean and 0% rust or rot.
So here goes the explaination here. First the dash harness was hacked up for a 4th gen swap and all the connectors on the gauges are different
2nd I have no engine harness at all as it was hacked to make the LS1 harness
So heres my idea. Can i use my 85 harness in the car??? I have a vats column but I did keep the 85 one. I also have a 92 6CLY harness and dash harness. What would be the ideal route to go??? Or should I look for a 89 complete harness. Any feedback would be awsome

Re: Engine harness question
If it were me, and I understand correctly ...
I'd rerun a complete dash wiring harness from really any thirdgen car, as well as the driver side firewall connector to engine.
You'll want a harness that for a car with gauges (as opposed to idiot lights) if you have gauges, etc.
Carbing your car will only require the driver side firewall wires, all pass side firewall wires were computer related.
Or, wire the car with a Painless kit.

Re: Engine harness question
I have a complete 85 harness from my old 85 before I scraped it. The wiring in the car now is fine accept i have to replace the connectors to the stock gauges. I just need to know if the driver side firewall connector will be the same on my 85 harness compared to the 89 harness. If they are the same Ill just use my 85 engine side on the 89 interior harness.
