Superbrightleds.com L.E.D. Resistor help
Does any one know about resistors? I wanna by some resistors from RadioShack so that I dont have to pay for shipping and wire up my spare LEDs from Superbrightleds.com. According to this page ( http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...2Fled_info.htm ) it says that the blue LED must be wired to a 470 ohm. So I looked up the 470 ohm resistor through RadioShack but the color codes are different from the little resistor that is inside the LED that I got. Can any who knows about this field help me out?
Im color blind but according to my daughter, the color codes in the superbrightled resistors are red, black, black, black, and orange. Thanks guys.

That's an invalid code, but starting from the other end with orange, you have a 300 ohm resistor with a tolerance of 2%.
Check out the calculator here..

Resistance Is Futile
300Ω is NOT a standard value therefore should not be stocked by RadioShack.
(But it’s possible for them to have surplus items which might contain unusual values.)
A part number of the part you got from the Shack would render more info.
Of course you want to adhere to the recommendation of the LED supplier.
However you said “the color codes are different from the little resistor that is inside the LED that I got.”
If you have LED BULBS the resistor is incorporated internally therefore you don’t need to add a resistor.

How bout those too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime
