Re: starter...

Welcome to my hell - I've been battling this issue for 2 years now. I've replaced everything, and still have the same problem. I'm thinking that the signal wire (purple wire to starter) has an issue in it somewhere (on my car). So sometime soon I'm going to rerun a new wire for it.

Meantime, I just apply 12v+ to where that purple wire connects to starter directly from battery with key on to get me going when it acts up (as mine sometimes starts and sometimes clicks with no rhyme or reason).

Here's a starter troubleshoot guide - might be ignition switch (not the key cylinder but the switch) which is on top of steering column (have to lower column down to get to it), might be your neutral safety switch, your starter enable relay (only if you have VATS), or an issue with that purple wire or any of the other wires in the circuit (yellow from ignition switch, green from neutral safety switch).

Re: starter...

My purple wire gets 12v+ fine, even when it just clicks. Voltage will make it click, but I wonder if I'm dropping amperage across the wire ... solenoid clicks but maybe not getting enough 'juice' to crank the starter. Anyway, it's the only part I haven't replaced yet, so it's next

did you try replacing your ignition? the thing where the key goes in? i lost the 5/16th nut trying to put the signal wire on this morning so i just stuck it on n shye cranked ..thing is when i turned the ignition it did nothing.. then i gave it more force n it turned on..maybe my key ignition switch thing is bad
