hatch motor problem

Yesterday a friend pushed my hatch down too far. (overriding the pulldown feature) Now the hatch lock is stuck down and I can't get it back up to grab the hatch. I've tried everything I can think of but nothing works. Any suggestions?

Re: hatch motor problem

Yeah - never let anyone close your rear hatch.

Try removing the hatch extend relay, and plugging it back in - it's behind the rear panel on the driver side - it'll be covered in black tape - little square thing.

Re: hatch motor problem

Here is what happend. The striker-sensing switch was pressed starting the down cycle, yet the latch did not catch on the hatch hook. The solution is you'll need to reiset the pull-down unit. You do so by reaching in and pressing and holding down the striker-sensing switch. The switch is located in front of the latch and is attached to the latch assy with a single hex-head screw. Once the pull-down unit has finished the down cycdle you'll hear a CLICK which is the reversing swtich being tripped to end the down cycle. Release the switch and the pull-down motor should power the latch assy all the way up, ending again with a CLICK as the reversing switch again trips ending the up cycle.
