Re: Video Log : Please Help
I have never seen that many wires to a positive terminal ever unless its running a stereo for a power wire or aftermarket stuff like a MSD. The wire you are showing is it the postive or the ground as you never said. I have no clue where the red wires go as you would have to track them down. My 85 never had that in it at all. Sorry I couldnt be more help

I dont have tose wires at all going to my firewall. I have 2 wires from my positive terminal from my battery. 1 goes to the starter and the other to my alternator. You will have to track down the wires you have there. Do you have anything that would run to the positive terminal?? MSD, Electric fuel pump, Stereo? Or anything that would need to be to a switched source as if its on all the time it can drain the battery.

Re: Video Log : Please Help
The orange wire from the battery terminal that dead ends, used to power the factory fans. I would assume that the one hacked in red wire goes to power the fans through some kind of switch in the cockpit. Having a wire run through the firewall that way is very hazardous. The body metal will cut through the insulation and ground that wire, making for a really cool light display and a not so cool electrical fire.

Plus, having your fans, that prevent the motor from smoking on a hot day, run off a funky switch in the dash is not a good idea. You will either forget to turn them on and overheat your motor, or you will leave them on and smoke your fans, then smoke your motor. The engineers designed them to be automatic, temperature controlled, for a reason. I would suggest putting them back to original.

The other red wire appears to go to the starter. I can't really think of what that's for. It would parallel the main +battery cable.

Re: Video Log : Please Help
Look at my "wiring diagram" thread in the electronics forum. It links to a huge library on another forum. While we may or may not have the diagrams for your particular year and model, GM liked to use the same basic color code and current paths over several years and models. If one diagram doesn't seem right, look at the one for the next year or one year earlier.

If you love that car and plan to keep it, invest in the Helm's factory shop manual. It tells you everything you need to know.
