1/2 instument cluster lights work, all bulbs are good

Anyone help me out on this. All the bulbs on the right side of the instrument cluster are not lighting up, (behind the tach, etc etc). There is 4 I believe all around each other that wont light up, but the bulbs are good.

Does the cluster receive power at two different points? Is there some type of distrobution problem in the guage? Anyhelp as to how the guage lights are getting power and why only half are on would be helpful!

Re: 1/2 instument cluster lights work, all bulbs are good

Update, so I took the cluster out, cleaned the contacts I plug it back in, and when the left side is plugged in the lights are working. When I plug the right side plug in the lights come on very dimmly. Barelly on. So each plug is running half the cluster?

Anyhelp on how I can troubleshoot why the instrument gauge lights on the right side are barely coming on?

Re: 1/2 instument cluster lights work, all bulbs are good

Anyone? I have the entire dash out. Have checked the wires, nothing is cut etc etc. All fuses are good. All light bulbs are good/grounded. I have no idea what else to check!

Which that much of the cluster not working, is there a way to check the actual cluster ribbon itself?

I have used a continutity tester on each side of the bulbs and ribbon runs and it always beeps telling me there is no break in the ribbons (not sure if this is an accurate way to test).

This car was converted to a Carb setup, previous owner claims someone touched something under the hood and they all started working, but I have played around under the hood and have had no such luck.

Thanks in advance.

How does the circuit board routing ribbon look?

It appears to be in good shape. No breaks etc. I have used my continuity tester to check if voltage can pass to all the lights and it can pass signal. Not sure if I should be testing it a different way, when I turn the headlights switch of the gauges all jump and the right turn signal indicator that stays on goes off. I replaced the headlights switch but have had the problems.

Those circuit papers can wear out and create resistance in the circuit. Maybe find another cluster module and swap it out completely. Good luck finding one in good shape. Moisture probably jacked it up, especially if you have leaky t tops.
