Instument Cluster swap not going as planned...
Yeah so I wanted to swap out my beat 85mph instrument cluster for a 115mph cluster with a tach and real gauges, not dummy lights. From what I know, it should be a direct fit, but mine doesn't want to click in flush on the left side. The speedo cable connects though, I can see it under the dash. I have no idea why it won't go in all the way, its the same shape as the old one. Also, I had this really dumb idea to swap the odometer out so it matched with what was on file, and ended up snapping the speedometer needle. I tried gorilla glue, that didn't work, and I tried sugru moldable glue, same result. Make fun of me all you want, but can I take the rod (the thing that the needle connects to, not familiar with the terminology) off the 85 mph speedo and transplant it into the 115 mph speedo? Or are they all different? Can I take it out of the magnet in the back and stick it in the new speedo's magnet, or would that screw up the sync? I realize I turned this simple swap into a bigger problem, but that's all part of the fun with owning a project car imo. I just don't want to drop another 100 big ones on a new speedo, and you guys on this site have been a big help to me so far. Any help is appreciated.

You'd probably break the stem (rod) trying to remove it or the pointer (needle). There is a very delicate spring attached to the stem & the speedo body.If you breath on it, it can bend. You might be SOL on that.
As for the cluster.Did you check to see the bolt in the warning lights at the bottom of the cluster was in the hole? There are two, one at each side. They dont always libe up when clusters are swapped.
The speedo cable can also keep the cluster from flush. It can slide out & stick. Thus keeping the cluster from moving into the correct spot.

Oh that stuff, I've heard of it, never knew the name.I seriously thought it was a typo.Even when those bolts are lined up.They can hang on the back due to the nut not lining up with the hexagonal hole on the cluster.
