Headlight **** won't go back in

I'm in the middle of restoring my 92 Camaro RS. I took apart my dash trying to check all my wiring to my cluster, as my speedometer and odometer aren't working. Obviously I had to take out my headlight **** to take apart my dash, and now I can't get it to go back in! It simply won't snap bakc in far enough so I can pull it out to turn on my headlights. Help!

Re: Headlight **** won't go back in

I'm hoping I can help you, but I don't think I have the same style headlight **** ('87) as you. For mine, there is a very small indent near the back side where I can press it in slightly with a jewelers screwdriver to remove it. Does yours have a similar setup to release it? If so, try pressing it in to perhaps reset it and then, making sure the male/female patterns match, try again. Good luck!

Did you remove just the ****, or the **** and shaft still together?

Theirs a button to release the whole **** & shaft, its up inside the headligjt switch, you gotta feel for it. Press it & see if the **** & shaft go in farther.

I got it! I had to take the whole switch out and take it apart, turns out the little latch box inside was loose, so it wasn't able to fit in all the way. Set it back in place, re-situated the switch, and voila! I have headlights again! Finally, lol. Thanks for all the replies everybody!
