oil pressure gauge hook up

i have an 87 iroc-z i dropped in a 383 carburated motor, i have the tan wire hooked up to the oil pressure sending unit and it still shoots up past 60 psi when i turn the key. What other step am i forgetting. Do I also need the plug the terminal above the oil filter in, and if so what wires do those hook up to cause i cut all those wires coming from the drive side fire wall...please help thanks

Slippery Situation

Make sure the sender threads have good contact to the block.

Temporarily clip on a jumper wire from the
tan wire to ground.

Now put the key in the RUN position.

If the oil gage reads zero replace the sender.

If the oil gage still reads high make sure the
tan wire going into the firewall connector has continuity thru both sides.

Then make sure the
tan wire has a good connection in the back of the dash.

If that’s all good your problem is inside the instrument panel; broken trace, defective gage.

Happy Racing!
