fuse problem

The fuse for my dome light keeps blowing no matter what amp fuse I put in. I had no dome light connected and the wires pushed up into my roof and used that fuse for aftermarket fog lights I reconnected my dome light and now the fuse pops everytime I put a new fuse in

Re: fuse problem

By using the dome lights wiring for fogs, you've messed up something. The interior lights get 12v+ ALWAYS, and are turned off/on by the door switches, which connect/disconnect a ground. BUT, ALL other lights on the exterior are switched on/off by switching the 12v+, not the ground. So, in your endeavor to wire up fogs, you've created a situation where your dome light power wire is getting grounded somewhere.

Rewire it back the way it originally was. Then run NEW wires to install fogs. AND, use a relay with the fogs, so that your not running high amperage wires to a low amperage switch on the cars interior - this is a recipe for a fire!

Re: fuse problem

That makes total sense the only problem is i never changed anything about the dome light wiring when I wired the fogs. The fuse socket for the dome light had no fuse in it so I just used that as the power to my fogs. I rewired the fog lights with a relay as you said so its now off that circut and I'm still having the issue
