Fog Light Relay Location 85 IROC-Z
Replaced a burned out fog light bulb in my 85 IROC-Z and both fogs worked for about a minute and they went out on their own.
Searching around and people say that the relay is on the drivers side fender somewhere. I see nothing on my 85. Can anyone help me locate it? Its not even clicking when I flip the switch to try and pinpoint it. Is the 85 in a special spot because its the first year for fog lights?
Thank you.

I want to say that the relay is under the dash not 100% though. If I remember right, from the dash switch the wires go to the relay, from relay to fuse box, fuse box to c100 firewall bulkhead, c100 down drivers side to fog lights. The only wire that is not in the harness that runs down drivers side is the passenger side ground which grounds on the passenger side.

Well, the relay is not under the dash, nor is there a fuse in the fusebox marked for fog lights. I do have a relay on my passenger side radiator support next to my battery. Could that be it? The wires coming from that run underneath the heater hoses towards the firewall on the passenger side. So it may not be.
Anyone else know where the fog light relay is, or have a wiring diagram for a 1985 Camaro?

Thanks James I actually stumbled across that link in another fog light thread.
Its not very specific as to where the relay is at. I know the later years its in the fender, but on an 85 is somewhere else. Hell there isnt even a fog light fuse in my fuse block!
James, you have an 85 IROC-Z, have you come across your relay?

Yes that is very odd. Since 85 was the first year for fog lights, maybe it was a rushed design last minute, and made it into the owners manual, but not the shop manual.
Looks like Ill be tracing wires from the fog light housings and see where it takes me.

Welllll, after searching through the manual's electronic schematics, I finally found the info below FWIW.
Also, in Harness Connector Faces: Blk 12020599 to Fog Lights
151 = Black / Ground Circuit Direct
34 = Purple / Fog or Drive Lamp
12 = Tan / Headlight Feed, Lo Beam

Note the additional info above as well as this from Jim85IROC that I thought was interesting:
From 86-on, your fog lights would work with your parking lights on and when your low beams are on. As you learned, they won't work with high beams.
BUT... in 85, in addition to many other one-year-only peculiarities, the fog lights would come on ONLY with the low beams. With just your parking lamps on, the fog lights will not come on.
The diagram above goes the Lo beam route.

Well the fog lights work!
Turns out the "85 only" switch is bad. It does not toggle anymore, just moves where ever you put it. When you push on the switch in either direction and hold it down, the lights come on. Then there is a burning smell from the switch area.
Now I need to find out where in the world to find the 85 only switch. Hawks Thirdgen has never seen one before.
If anyone doesnt know what Im talking about, the 85 switch is all painted with no light, and its placed below the headlight pod. Yes its factory.
Wish me luck finding a 85 switch.

The switch is exactly the same as any other 85-87 switch.Only difference I noticed is that if you try to put it in the headlight trim bezel it doesnt stick out as far as the 86-89 switches.Ive pulled a few of them and they are mounted exactly where you show in the pic.Not sure if I have any left but I can check when I get home from work later on tonite
