Re: HelP please

Do you have the plug that goes in the bigger socket? The wire from the coil goes in the little one. The coil output goes to the center terminal. Are you missing the coil?

Re: HelP please

Yep - that's an external coil distributor. You need a coil.

Re: HelP please

yeah you got a external coil distributor. So either get a coil or get one with an internal coil. DUI has them new or you can go to the bone yards.

Re: HelP please

Yes. External coil. Just like the older dizzies.

People have attached the name of 'HEI' to the dizzies with the coil on top, whereas in reality, even the slightly older dizzies were a HEI. 2 different HEIs. External & Internal coils.

Nothing wrong with the external coil. Use it & go.

Re: HelP please

Which connector do you have? Do you have a Haynes or Chiltons manual or any kind of book with diagrams? I'll see if I can get some pics to show how the setup should be

Re: HelP please

That's the only distributor connector that comes on the engine harness, the other one comes from the coil. I took some pics that may help explain. Could you send me your email address again for pics, I haven't found it yet. Never mind, I found it
