L69 Relay Identification
I'm rebuilding my L69 and I'm at the stage of redoing my wiring and adding some fancy wire looms. When I took the plastic looms off I found a few relays had gotten very hot and/or spliced into.
I'm looking at the factory service manual and have been able to figure out (I think) what most of the relays near the brake booster are.
Here's a picture

If anyone could enlighten me on which relay is which and make sure I marked these correct, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Also, what does a Throttle Kicker Relay do?

Re: L69 Relay Identification
One assumption I do have is that the unknown relay may be a fuel pump relay when the factory/dealer installed the pusher pump in the tank. Both it and the Throttle Kicker have been spliced into.
The car is in great shape; I'm just trying to track down this little wire mess.

Doesn't look factory to me. Pull the plug and jump the terminals, see if it powers the in-tank pump. You need to check it's operation anyway-just dump the rubber line that feeds the mech pump into a container and let it run for a bit. It'll flush out any stagnant gas in the lines and you'll know it works.
Throttle kicker is the solenoid at the front of the carburetor that bumps the idle speed up slightly when the AC is on and under certain ECM commanded conditions.
That wiring is kinda messy.

Thanks for the help. I'm not able to jump the terminals; everything is out of the engine bay.
Plan B was to trace the wires .... fun!

Re: L69 Relay Identification
2 more pictures.
I traced it back and the relay goes to 2 places (aside from the ground). One wire goes to the oil pressure sender (orange wire), and the red wire goes to the starter. My first guess that the relay was for the pusher fuel pump, but I'm not sure now that the wire runs to the alternator

Any ideas?

Re: L69 Relay Identification
In-tank pump. Runs to the alternator so that it only gets power when the engine is running, although that's not how mine is wired. Mine has 12V with engine in 'run'. The choke relay pulls power off the alternator but it should be located under the dash and not tied into the OPS. That's the stock type connector to the OPS for the in-tank pump relay, though.
A later install of the in-tank pump may have wired it through the alternator if the ECM switch was not present.

I'm retarded and said it goes to the alternator. I meant to say the starter. Now why that is going to the starter I have no idea.

Re: L69 Relay Identification
The post on the starter serves as the main electrical distribution block. It's the 'hot all the time' connection. The relay should only pass this power to the pump when it's signal lead is grounded-usually through the ECM and/or OPS.
