Frustrating Lighting Issues
Frustrating Lighting Issues
Hello All,
I've searched the forum looking for someone who is having the same problems as me and have found no results for my exact issue. I took my 86 Z28 auto with cruise to have the oil changed yesterday and the tech said that my brake lights and reverse lights would not come on. After checking I have noticed that my hazard lights dont work either, although all turn signals work fine, and headlights, tail lights and running lights all light up. I checked the brake lights a month ago and they all worked. I have checked all fuses and tried using the turn signals while holding the brake pedal down to test the signal relay, but nothing has worked. Does anyone know what could make all of these systems fail at once? The only thing I have changed on the car recently is having a new distributor and MSD ignition control installed. Please help! This is my only car and i cant drive it without brake lights!

Brake The Habit
Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe both sides (one side at a time) of the STOP HAZ fuse.
Is there power on both sides?
If yes, the problem is a break in the orange wire coming out of the fuse.

Backup Lights:
With the key in the RUN position probe the dark blue wire at the switch on the right side of the shifter.
Is there power there?
