I took out the flaky Viper security system in my '90 IROC and found all the places that needed to be spliced back together with the exception of one wire and now the car won't start!

Coming down the steering column there are two batches of wires that are ribbon cable style and I have one singles orange wire (about 16 gauge) and it is cut off about where the column bolts up to the bottom of the dash. I took it all down, but can not see anywhere that is obvious that it should be connected to. I found all the other places the Viper was wired into and reconnected/repaired the way it was installed.

I need a dash wiring schematic!

I checked out the stickys and don't see a wiring diagram/schematic anywhere, anyone point me in the right direction if there is one on the website?

Mind if I pickback on your thread? I'm in the same boat and was just going to ask for the same. I'm about to put a keyless entry module in my 90 Iroc, and it's a wring nightmare. I have duct tape and butt connectors galore. Which orange wire you want me to check out? See it in this picture? Mind telling me where you flasher module is clipped to? Mine is danging down. lol

Looks like it is the one coming down from the upper portion of the column and looks like it goes into the yellow taped area? Hard to tell further than that with this picture. Can you separate that area a bit a take a better picture, send it to me via regular email at PaceCarNut@Optonline.net?

I think this is what you are looking at. That thick orange isn't one wire. It's contains two white wires for your VATS. That's why you aren't able to start the car. It connects to a connector and changes to purple with white stripe and white with black stripe.

AH! Yes, I have those wires disconnected too!

So the orange one just gets connected to both of those? Seems to be quite a difference in gaige between the orange and the two others though?

That orange wire in my picture isn't an orange wire. If you pull back the coating, you'll see it's two white wires inside an orange coating.

Thanks Brian! That did the trick. You were right, what I thought was one orange wire was the outer coating. As you said, I peeled back the coating, two wires were there. Hooked them up and now it starts! I cleaned up all the rest of the wiring from the Viper system and now looks nice and tidy!

Regarding your relay, that is the turn signal flasher relay. I tested mine by disconecting the relay, turn signals did not flash. Hooked it back up and they flash.
