Performance Tuner

I am very new to thirdgens and am just starting to really get into the guts of it. Can thirdgens take a performance tuner and if so, what type and which companies sell them?

performance chip yes, not a flash tuner on a obd1 system. hypertech, ads superchip, tpi chips.com ect...
