berlinetta Wiper motor
berlinetta Wiper motor
does anyone know how to test it to see if the wiper motor is good or bad? dont really want to convert it to a normal wiper motor. i cant find it under the search. also does anyone know if there is a way to tell if the pod is bad? pretty much i can only turn on the wipers every once in a while. now i cant get anything. i know the lights work. need to get this fixed so i can get my car inspected then registered. the year i have is an 85. if i cant get an answer i will attempt to some modifications.
Also did the berlinetta's come with a electric radio antenna? if anyone had done any wiring modification to their berlinetta, feel free to share.
thanks Kevin

The Beril "guy" on TGO is John in RI. You might consider a PM to him, if you don't find what you need.

If you unplug the 2 wire connector at the bottom of the wiper motor you can test the MOTOR itself. ( assuming that the motor is still installed on the firewall it will have body ground. If the motor is removed than you must ground the case for this test. ) If you apply 12 volts to 1 pin ( don't recall Left or Right ) then the wiper should operate in LOW. If you apply 12 volts to the other pin than you should get HIGH speed. The motor will also make an audible click - that's normal. 95 % of the time this little test will proove that the MOTOR is OK, but this test doesn't tell you anything about the motor COVER & the COVER is usually the part that fails.
Since the wiper systems operation was working-not working-working than it's highly likely that the foil contacts inside the pod ( behind the plastic button on the circuit board) are worn/damaged. If your pressed for time and NEED to get the car to pass inspection simply splice a toggle switch ( switched power ) into 1 wire of the 2 wire plug ( Low or HIGH speed, your choice !) so that the wipers will operate when the toggle is flipped. As long as the wipers turn on when inspected - it will pass.
Yes,.... Many Berlinettas had a factory power antenna installed. Most of the Berlinettas I've owned over the year HAD a power antenna - but not all. If one was installed from the factory than the radios Black "power" plug will have a pink wire. ( Pink = switched power )
Hope that helps !!

Awesome thanks man. Is there anything else.I should work on before getting it inspected? Is it necessary to lock up the torque converter If running a holley carb? Also I noticed the power Windows go slow, could they use some more grease (lithium grease)? Or are the motors going out? What other mods that could be useful?
