How to test for power at pump?

I seem to not be getting fuel. Car will run on starting fluid so I know its a fuel issue. I am getting power at the fuse panel, but I do not hear the fuel pump, nor does it push fuel. Is there any way I can test for power at the pump?

you will need to set your meter to dc volts, have a friend sit in the car and turn the key to the acc. while your testing underneath. the pump connector should energize for only a few seconds above 12vdc. if you get nothing i would assume you have problems with the wiring from your fuse panel to the pump.

Is the pump connector accessible from underneath without removing anything? I don't have access to a lift so the less I have to take apart the better.

if your pump is in the tank. you will need a light to see what your doing. in my experience i can only access mine with jacking the rear end up on a level solid surface from my diff, then using jack stands on the frame for extra safety.

to answer your question, you dont need to take anything apart. just disconect the connection and measure. its on the front side of the tank clipped on the body from what i remember.

if you fold down the back seat and lift up the carpeting behind it, youll see the bulkhead connector were the fuel pump wires go through. there will be a black one (ground) a purple one (fuel level) and a tan or grey one (power). if youre getting power to that plug chances are your pump is just burnt out. if you dont have power at that wire then the issue is ahead of it. you can test the pump by applying 12v to the tan or grey wire to get the pump to spin.
