dimmer switch replacement

Has anyone here replaced their dimmer switch in the steering column? What is involved in doing this? Is it an all day job or fairly simple to do? Thanks in advance

Re: dimmer switch replacement

Its not bad to do, its at the base of the column. The holes are slotted for adjustability. Make sure the rod doesn't unhook at the lever area.

Re: dimmer switch replacement

Its not bad at all. The worse part is getting the 2 screws holding it in...out. Not bad though. I just did one and was going to wait for my husband to get home to do it but ended up doing it myself in about an hour or so and I wasnt hurrying.

Okay, thanks guys. I wasn't sure what all would be involved, I just have no brights and it's getting foggy here at night. Thanks again

Re: dimmer switch replacement

You may not need to replace the switch, it could just need adjustment. If you can push in on the front of the switch where the rod goes and click back and forth between highs and lows you just need to loosen the screws and take up the slack for the rod to work properly

Re: dimmer switch replacement

Thank you, Henry. I'll have to try that in case I don't need a new one. Lot of deer out here at night and I have a $800 bumper on my car that I can't replace. Thanks guys.
